Try the hot pin test heat a pin and see if burns a pin hole in the ferule if it does not the its ivory as it will not burn at that temp.

Question for you, if you wanted to use; from the looks of it you could cut off the thread, flatten smooth, and glue modern tip to it?
so keeping the ivory/bone ferrule.
does modern glue work well with ivory/bone enough for tipping and playing?Up the TSF! :snooker:
