so the selling price to the actual bought in price isnt as close as some members say they are there is a good profit in them if these prices are right. Just out of interest I was looking on the greenbaize web site as I do like gbl cues and my last 7/8 cues have all been gbl bought my 1st In 2007/08 it was a c6 red black red 4 splices of burr red black red veneer then 4 more splices of burr paid 180 just noticed the same cue is around 400£ thats a large increase in 6/7 years.

the increase is not stu's it is always based on what he has to pay for it. the maximus ultimates even at trade are not cheap.

Some of it will be stu's as the cues have got more popular he must have increased the price to match demand I have always said
gbl cues are as good as any but the re sale is still quite poor imo there getting to the max which I think most people will pay.
Some of those maximus ultimates are pushing 600£ there's no way he's paying close to that amount.i am not saying there cheap but hes got to be making a good profit and I dont blame him for doing so if he can get it. Am I right in saying you can only buy maximus cue
from either greenbaize and craftsman cues.

I think when you buy a cue from an agent, you pay him a profit. this profit that you pay is not just for the VAT or import fees Or ....... !!! you pay him extra , also for other things. For example, the fact that you can try before you buy it and finally buy the cue that suits your game best. and let's not forget that you do,nt have to wait. (No waiting time ) either. .. personally, if I can try before I buy a cue, and I do'nt have to wait four months ,,, I will have no problem to pay som extra money . !!!! BUT everyone should be able to make this choice. If anyone still want to deal with maximus , imo should be possible to do that . I do'nt know why Maximus does'nt accept any order ( So I do'nt mean to judge anyone here )!!!! But imo is not FAIR !!!! . if someone want to buy a cue ff an agent, So be it !!! . if anyone want to deal with maximus itself (without the intervention of an agent), that is his choice and that should be possible to do so !!!!

,, good point Andrew. but I do'nt think you can compare a snooker cue with a car. IF maximus says : I'm going to sell all my cues WORLDWIDE (not just in the UK or Europe), t, by an agent. THEN , that would be an other story !!!!!!!!!!! so, as i said, imo, their policy is not fair.

IMHO, the cars & cues thing is a loaded comparison.

With cues, you can call some cuemakers, and they'll sell you a cue.

Generally speaking, ALL car makers sell through an agent ( franchised garage ), although ironically, if you're

the right person, you probably COULD phone Ferrari direct, and they would sell you a car. Just need a big enough wad.

actually ferrari call you, the chap is called nick - but the point is this if maximus would rather sell to all their potential UK customers through only two retailers that is their business and it must make time/economic sense otherwise they would not do it, remember for a company based in thailand it is extremely difficult and expensive to send cues around and to retain a level of customer service, one shipment of 50 cues at a time makes a lot more sense to them.

I think it was Cheeraq Arya, who called Ferrari, but I agree with the point.

"Popularly known as CA, Cheerag Arya who is 32-years old Indian born businessman fond of collecting Ferraris, actually enlisted Ferrari Special Projects to come up with his dream-Ferrari. Based on the Ferrari 599 GTO, CA’s new Ferrari SP Arya was originally sent to him in a spread of 12 potential designs. Cheerag then proceeded to pick each design apart and put together an image of the car he had in mind."

I think before people get excited about how much cues cost from source and what you have to pay from say GBL, some things have to be taken into account, not just import duties and shipping then VAT on that, but also out of the profit come the shop overheads, business rates, wages for staff members, and a myriad of other expenses.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!
