  • Looking for a Centre-Jointed Decent Cue

I will be traveling to India in November with my cue and noting how the airlines sometimes lose a cue like recently for one of the pros I was thinking I could pack a centre-jointed cue diagonally in my large suitcase to ensure I had a decent cue in case mine went missing.

Does anyone out there have a 2-piece with specs of around 18oz, 58", 9.4mm, 28.5mm and normal balance point (at a reasonable price of course).

The other option would be to start with a one piece cue - when you arrive the baggage handlers have conveniently turned your cue into a two piece or maybe three piece.

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
    I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

One of the players in a recent PTC, don't remember the name, had his cue go missing and that's going from England to Riga I think which is just one flight with no connections! I'm going through Abu Dabi, then I think Bangalore so twice the chance of them losing it.

I didn't have a problem when I went to Riga and back but I did have a cue lost in Gatwick on a direct flight to Toronto and it took me 2 weeks to get it back. I was really pissed but luckily it was on the flight home rather than the flight over.

I figure I can have my bases covered with a centre-jointed cue packed in my suitcase but I suppose they could always lose that too!

Chris Melling I believe it was who's cue got "lost".
I believe he did get it back though.
          Up the TSF! :snooker:

I heard them talking about Chris not playing with his own cue on eurosport or summat like that,

I have never travelled on a plane with a cue/case, do they go into the luggage compartment the same as a suitcase?

If so then the chance of losing the cue case or suitcase would surely be the same,

I once lost my suitcase but was fortunately on way back to uk, the silly checkout kiosk in spain labelled my luggage as mrs diana johnson and off it went to Germany instead of birmingham!

Yes mate because people want to blow up planes, honest people need to put their cues in the hold.

The problem is you don't normally check a cue case with the rest of your luggage at the check-in counter. For the cue case you have to go to the 'oversize baggage' counter where there is only one and they handle all the oversized baggage for all the flights so the chances are better for a cue case to be sent to the wrong destination.

Never mind all that, who has a center-jointed ash cue for sale, 58", around 18oz and around 9.4mm ferrule?

I took my very well packed TW to Melbourne and had to sign a 'Fragile' sticker on the case. When I arrived, I took it off and noticed on the back of the sticker it said that if signed my insurance on this item was void. I paid extra for insurance and it wasn't even covered.

Terry, you could try sharpsnooker.com as they have a couple of two-piece phoenix cues that I've been looking at. They are both around 18 oz, 9.2mm and I think 57 inches. Don't know butt diameter or balance point but I suspect that it will be ok with those specs. $400 with extensions included I think. They are based in Sydney and I've yet to order something from them but I hear good things about their service.
                    Tear up that manure-fed astroturf!

Haven't seen Jonik in over 20 years. Working on something with ADR147 who may be able to help. There will be a lot of decent centre-jointed snooker cues here in Canada but unfortunately the guys that have them aren't members here.

A little more expensive that I wanted to pay when you add in shipping and duty/taxes on this end. Looking for 58" too.
