    . . well, nearly . .

to quote him on Thai cues , :-

"the quality of the workmanship excels anything made in Britain, with the exception of a few bespoke cue makers".

Dominic stayed with me a couple of weeks ago when we did an exhibition down this way. He is a very interesting guy hugely intelligent and the perfect professional. His knowledge of memorabilia is superb and his love of the crafts of the games of billiards and snooker makes him a pleasure to know. His current cue is as good as it gets. Superb piece of maple with ebony and front splice od a rare Aussie hardwood I had not heard of. The mace plate was made by him from a lovely old piece of ivory which he had laser engraved. The butt finish he did himself building up a wonderful piano lacquer coating that really glows. F.

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
              I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

I also know Dominic and have played a few exhibitions against him and "WON"....Had to get that in...lol... and yes he is a lovely guy and great crowd puller with his witty ways and he is right off it beleive me, Dominic does have great knowledge on Snooker / Billiard Memorbillia which Andy Hunter has helped along the way as most know Andy Hunter is "The Most Knowledgable Person on the Planet" which most collectors will agree including Gordon Radford etc.

The Part in the Article on World Snooker made me Laugh alittle was this One ......

A lot of professionals use the same cue for their whole lives, and others suffer if theirs become lost or damaged. How important is a cue to a player's career?

It's very important. Every player can envisage how he wants to the cue ball to move with side spin over distance. If you have a cue which doesn't achieve that, then you will have to spend time getting used to it, or try another one. If I'm trying out a new cue, if I'm still practising with it after 10 minutes then it's got a chance. If it doesn't suit me, I'll know within five or six shots and I won't even try it after that. You know instinctively if you like a cue.

I can honestly say i dont know any other Professional or Person Including Myself...lol.. who has tried and bought more Cues than Dominic! and personally i think this has been his downfall over the years as people dont realise how great a player dominic really is. Yes i think Dominic, Matthew Stevens and Jimmy White havent been able to handle the Pressure at times as good as Mark Williams, Stephen Hendry, Ronnie, John Higgins, Steve Davis etc and I beleive these proberly are the best players never to Win the World Title and not forgetting the Great Paul Hunter who i also beleive Would have Won World Title thou. I gotta say Matthew also a Fantastic Player and in Practise would beat anybody and i mean anybody as i have watched him personally for many years and played against him and in One Exhibition in Tenby Leisure Centre I Beat him also!....Had to get that in.

Regarding the Cue Makers i would say it was Tony Glover and Trevor White, with Tony making so many Replica's for Dominic in the past and Trevor just making Dominic so many in the past Including some i have seen were the Butt's have been from 33+mm. I met trevor up the brackla snooker club one day around 10+yrs ago when he first starting getting on the scene and there were 10-15 Cues on Table and I picked one up and couldnt get my hand around the butt and trevor said dont bother with these 3-4 Cues gareth as they have very large butt's approx 33mm made for somebody to look at who is coming shortly! I picked up a few of the other Cues to try and who walked in Dominic Dale trying these Big Butt Cues out, after a had a few knocks with few cues i went upto him and said Dominic how on earth do you like these big butt cues and he said he preferd larger Butt's ....Which I made a Comment about and he laughed.

I have to say if you do want a Exhibition in your Club give Dominic a Ring! he will make your night and you will see some great Snooker as he is a Great Player.

                Gaz.

I stood behind Stephen Hendry in the queue at the Co-op in Auchterarder once.

Had his little wire basket and everything . . just like a regular bloke. .
