His English is excellent, I think he was brought up in Canada hence his non-chinese accent.

Marco Fu was playing Ronnie at the sands centre in Carlisle a few years back and came into our club for a few hours practice before it, but the lady behind the counter turned him away as he wasn't a member , luckily there were a couple of lads in who spotted him, one ran down the stairs and caught him in the carpark while the other explained to her who he was!
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

                  all members only clubs yes
guests must be accompanied by a member, that sort of thing.
I assume that Marco was on his own in the story above
you can find municipal clubs, say like the one in the next town to me which has a golf course, driving range and a snooker hall with 6 tables. you turn up and get a table and pay the £6+ an hour for the pleasure
                  Up the TSF! :snooker:

                      not at all
just as long as you don't mind playing alongside groups of youffs throwing balls down the table, all shouting, chatting constantly on their mobiles and hitting the cue ball as hard as they can on every shot
I don't go there very often and any way my club is much closer, the tables are looked after better and are only £2/hr

I didn't play then Dean, but one of the lads I have the odd knock with now, was the one that recognised him, im not sure if Marco was by himself or with someone but I'm guessing if he was with someone he wasn't a member either lol. The club has to be careful with licensing and rates and rent deals etc, because they are at different rates for a members club compared to walk on places, the lady that turned him away is great, and even the owner says if it wasn't for her the club would not survive, she is a stickler, but the place needs it. I love the club and wouldn't want it to change one bit.

also insurance terms determine who is allowed in or not
but glad your club players convinced her and Fu and your club now has a top pro story

It had loads of pros come through its doors years ago, including a young Chris Small, who came down with his mum and dad!!, they used to hold quite a big cash game first Sunday of every month and loads of pros played, unfortunately that died out, they tried to revive it but it's not really happening.

the club I got to doesn't have any snooker pro stories... there is the old story way back in the 70s about "Jeanette" but a different line of work
