Ok, for those of you with collections of cues (or those with several cues), are the cues more 'ornamental' or do you use them?
Really curious about those with 3 or 4 similarly spec'd cues as I always thought changing cues would affect your game
Or do you use a different cue if the cloth or table dictates?
    Cheers

Found myself in the village charity shop today asking if they'd had any cues in :P

Amazing - 130 yrs old i bet that cue could tell a few stories - do you know any of the provenance of the cue perpetual??

I know for the last 40 years or so it's hung on a gentlemans wall in Scotland. He was given it as a younger man by a gent in his club who was using it as a playing cue I understand - in fact I need to respond to the email he sent me today, I was half thinking he was checking up that I hadn't sold it on!

Well thats fascinating and its great that a cue gets used for its primary purpose, amazing that you have that provenance also - i love history

I think if you are'nt a collector, is wrong to have more cues in your possession at the same time. The problem is, every time you play crap or make a mistake,, you think it is to the cue and gonna try other one and so change the cues every day . So you are never able to restore and fix your mistakes. unless, someone really has the discipline to use just one of those cues as his playing cue.

That's kind of what I was wondering Ramon, and I guess everyone will 'just give the new cue a knock to see how it feels' and that's where will power will come into play
So a guy who has 4 top end cues say a JP, TW, CJ and say a Stanford - all spec'd the same, what's the thinking then?
play a bad frame, change the cue or use whatever you fancy on the day as they all play the same ??

100% agree, but I think there is a different classification for people like myself who just like to try new cues and appreciate them for a while, often with no intention of making it your playing cue. Just like the pretty cases we buy and don't dare take them out of the house for fear of scratching them! Lol

That's pretty much the way I see it too culraven.

Took my cue out last night to the pool with my new very nice ( and very expensive ) case , and had

to then look for a spot to put it, where it would be away from beer / feet / other cases, etc etc .

Maybe just kep it for the home games in future LOL.

Nothing better than getting a different cue, and giving it an outing. I don't mind buying and selling, as long as

                        i don't make a huge loss.

I have two loves that come in to play here...

I love cues and I often see one and think "I've GOT to have it" as I want to know how it feels to touch and hold and how it plays :snooker:

I also love to buy and sell, there is a bit of a trader in me that comes out in my hobbies and as a result I get to speak with many great people who I now consider friends despite only ever catching up through the forum, email, or messages. There's a great community here with some fine folk.

Is there a hard core bunch of collectors, and do the cues basically just go round in circles between them? Or are they more widespread.
