Pete (on this forum) with all the tasty cues had one made by Dave Coutts and I believe he posted pics on here somewhere. The finished cue was simply stunning, about the nicest looking cue I have ever seen. Pete had to wait a long time as there was a huge amount of work required to make it, also it wasn't cheap!! The added bonus with a laminated cue is that it is not only a great looking cue but they play well
I believe that Peradon also make them and I saw them advertised just this week for around ÂŁ300.'Believe To Achieve'

I know that Dave Coutts used shafts laminated of maple and walnut but not sure if walnut is the preferred other wood for the other makers

I had a laminated shaft cue, biggest mistake I ever made selling that one. It was fantastic for pool, the cue was so powerful the break seemed to explode.

Richie, send me your email address I could do with ordering one of these!

I have an O Min Imagine with a laminated shaft , it is I believe an optional extra ( approx + ÂŁ 60 ) . I personally believe that O Min and Niche probably source their shafts from the same factory and finish them " in house " . Dave makes his own laminated shafts , I have been in his workshop and seen this for myself . Riley also do a laminated shaft , the L8 series on the Elegance is made as a radial laminate ( eight , cake shape laminated layers ) , this of course has been done for years in the American pool cue market and is nothing new. Coutts , O Min , Niche etc laminate in a different way to radial lamination , hence the presence of " chevrons / arrows " . My cue has three arrows on the top and bottom of the shaft and quad , lower splices of Snakewood over Maple veneers and is a work of art as well as being a really good and powerful playing cue.

They are great looking those laminated shafts, in what way do they feel and play different to a regular shaft? This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

If they are just walnut laminated onto maple, then they'll most likely play like a maple cue. Richy said the shaft I'm having is stiff but not super stiff. I'd hazard a guess that the shaft is Thai made. Purely down to the price I'm paying. If it is U.K made then I feel Richy might be under pricing them. I won't reveal how much I paid in case Richy wants to keep his prices for private sales. However if he sees fit to say how much it was he's welcome too.
Out of the shafts he showed me, only the one was a laminated shaft. All the others were ash as that's what I asked for originally. It's worth a message though to see if he has more.
