  • How to fix? gouge in shaft

how would you recommend fixing a gouge in my shaft? the latch of my case banged on it and created 2 deep holes - the chunks are missing.
my cue is oil finished and i was thinking of wood filler..
    inputs would be greatly appreciated.

I've just filled a couple of gouges like that in the butt of a cue using super glue gel, over-filling the gouge, letting it dry and then sanding it back flush and re-finishing but it is obviously easier to hide in ebony - I would do the same for your gouges but you'd need to be careful and match it back in with the surrounding area, worse case you would end up with a small area that might be slightly different shading but smooth, you could get the whole cue re-finished again if it bothered you that much - that's what i'd do anyway, not mucked one up yet

Get a couple of wet cotton wool buds and tape them over the dints leave over night and the wood will swell up allowing you to sand them back or at least not have to fill the holes as much, just use masking tape and its not as sticky ok. works a treat.

i've fixed it with superglue and wood dust. didnt bother matching the colour as that's asking too much where i live where resources are limited. as long as it's flush, im happy Thanks for the inputs guys!
