  • My New Jim Black Cue

Recently took delivery of my 1 pc. Jim Black cue.

Felt just right immediately. Terrific playing cue with 12 beautiful chevrons. I'm quite pleased with it. Jim is a pleasure to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate having another cue by him. My pics are not the best, the badge is actually a stunning gold colour.

1 pc. ash w/plain ebony butt
    57.5"
    17.25 oz.
    9.75 mm
    29 mm butt

My pic of the badge does not do it justice. Here is a pic from Jim's shop to show it better.

Classic looking cue , and very nice Wayne .

What is the cost / waiting time like in comparison to other makers?
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Jim black seems to do a nice cue. What I would like to know is people have a thing with chevrons and all that and how even they are etc,but what i have noticed is how come the likes of coutts, cook, trevor, wooldridge don't do this to their cues when presumably these are the best cue makers in the world.
This is a statement from wooldridge ""Most people are content with a good solid 'playing' cue, and are happy to accept any grain pattern as the 'character' of the cue. This is how it should be, choose a cue that plays well and do not worry about what the shaft looks like""
You often see those cheap cues on ebay as well which look like a JP ultimate if you changed the badge, yet these sell for £100

Neil, I don't want to speak for Jim regarding prices. My waiting time was approx. 6 months.

Leo, I didn't request the 12 chevrons, I accepted what he made me. I do like it very much though, it's a terrific playing cue for me.
