I am thinking of buying a Thai made cue like Niche or Omin etc.. can anyone tell me about the quality of these cues? I have always used Parris cues but just don't have the money to buy one at the minute.

    Thanks guys

I had both Mastercue and Omin,I dont think quality is an issue, and like many have said before me are probably the best value secondhand cues on the market.I just bought a new Thai Cue from member gorvagh, its from an little known Thai maker called Utopia, unfortunatley not hit a ball with yet, going snooker this week cant wait.Cant upload pictures im afraid, but its a georgous oil finished cue, with multiple chevrons all the way down the shaft with a nice slim taper, and beautifully balanced at 17.

I use a phoenix and I would challenge anyone to compare it with anything.

I've been playing since I was 17 and I've had and played with most cues and would say my personal experience Thai cues are unbeatable for quality, finish and great players, I play at the moment with a gbl and a couple of lads have phoenix and tbh I think the finish of these are comparable with the so called best makers out there.
People need to remember that they don't need to be spending £500+ on cues when Thai cues can match anything out there IMHO and much cheaper

It ain't the cue, it's the hand that's holding it that matters. Thai cues are cheap and therefore value for money, but a friend of mine just reurned his new GBL because the weight was rattling in the butt. You pay your money and you take your choice and your chances. Nothing in snooker is guaranteed except maybe inflated prices for pointed sticks made in the UK that some attest to being something akin to magic wands.

Was thinking of an O‘min cue but noticed they have airlock joints not to sure about the reliability of these.

I cant fault my gbl, never had an issue with it. Stu provides a brilliant service and you can go to the shop to try cues out.

My GBL is better than some Parris cues Ive seen and cost at least 1/3 of the price!

There's a big misconception amongst many people where they think Thai cues are cheap quality when the reality is Thailand produce some of the best timber in the world, you look at Ton Praram cues, Phoenix, precision, GBL, niche, all these are very a high standard and IMHO match anything a uk maker build

i have a few thai made cues ,and ive said before the ash and maple are very good standard, the splicings are good the finish is something you can work with by a rub down with a very fine wet and dry and putting a oil finish on,they are cheaper to buy but dont think your getting crap,if your willing to do a bit of work they are good cues.
