I've just bought some Rustins natural grain filler and ebony dye but cannot get the colour right, it always ends up grey and if I put more dye the filler ends up too thin. Any ideas?

My aurora grain filler and oil came today so as soon as got back from work stripped down the oil of the the cue with White spirits and lightly sanded with 240 grit wet and dry, cleaned with a damp cloth and let it dry for Half an hour. After that I applied the grain filler (which looks a bit like oil based paint) to the shaft of the cue let it dry a little (drys very quick) and re applied a little more where needed to be honest prob used a lot more than I should of but since it was first time better be safe than sorry, I let it dry for two hours then sanded down lightly with 400 grit wet and dry and went over again with 600 grit and the result is very impressive super smooth and looks better than brand new with a really nice dark grain would highly recommend to any1 wanting to re grain there cue I've still got more than 4/5 bottle left and I over did it so plenty to do quite a few cues. Got to wait now though few hours make sure it's properly dry before applying the oil.

Hope this has helped any1 wanting to try it out.

Stupidly I didn't take any of the different stages but can try and get one of the shaft as it is now.
