Agreed. And the other work he carries out on all other cues - vintage etc is second to none. And I have a few others that I trust for him to work on without fear.

No one is saying he makes a bad cue as I'm sure his cues are spot on, but you are not a global cuemaker until the pros are using your cues. cue makers around the world become big because big stars use them a bit like nike or ronnie o sullivan and parris or selby and Stamford etc. you walk into the crucible and ask 100 people in the crowd name a cuemaker and how many of them will say Dave coutts, I bet you'll be lucky to even get one, and that reason is because no well known pros use his cues.
John parris ultimates are the hottest property in china for one reason only and that's because the pros use them

Does anyone know if John Parris is any good at snooker himself? I know he's a good marketer by the way he hands out free cues to pros sometimes but is he any good at snooker himself? Just curious

Not many pro's use Trevor White or Robert Osborne but they are global cue makers . Could probably only name 5 players that use these cue makers .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

FFS can't anyone see what I'm trying to say, to become world renowned on a commercial basis you need big stars to endorse that particular product, wether you think I'm right or wrong this is normally how it works globally

leo i dont know where you are trying to take this but just take a min to think. parris aint a global player hes got a dingy shop in the smoke, just because some pros use his bats mean diddly sqwat, how can you be a global player if you have to wait 3 years for a bit of wood.now peradons, rileys, their global players not some niche maker, just because hes created an aura of perfection and desirability through intense self promotion dont make him top dog.he uses the same woods as most other makers and the only reason a lot of pros use his sticks is more than likely he gives em away

My point is ding asked for something which dave didn't want to provide. That's every day dealings not just relevant to cues. I don't see proof of any ulterior motive. I see stranger requests on this forum daily!
Agree with the original postings though dave still shared this news with everyone on fb? He couldn't left dings name out of it and said a customer... Etc
No i am not upset at all.

Just voicing an opinion that's all and apologies if some replies may seem harsh but i am in no way having a go at anyone on here.

Ding is being ridiculous IMO for nothing and i made my opinion as to why i believe this earlier so i will not repeat it.

If Dave Coutts wants to say things on his FB page that is up to him and he is getting plenty of support which i agree with, not just by normal people but other respected Cue makers as well.

Ding is being the ******** IMO not Coutts!
If it is called " Common sense " why is it so rare???

Don't see a problem , no one is in the wrong if you ask me. If i requested something on a cue i was going to buy but was declined. I wouldn't go ahead with the order either.

From Dave coutts website. Due to high demand for totally handmade cues and a waiting list of over 2 1/2 years we will currently not be taking anymore orders for totally handmade cues until Dave has managed to catch up a little.
Surely Ding would want his cue a little bit sooner then 2 1/2 years?

Dave is only one of at least four cuemakers who turned down the offer to make Ding a cue.

                          Good on them.

Standing by their own good name is a must IMO and Ding can go make his own Cue!

I can only wish we had decent Cue makers in Australia like the U.K has and the ability to just walk up and avoid all waiting lists etc like the Pros do. Not to mention the money they cost but they are worth it no doubt and the quality and craftsman ship is second to none.

One day i will have a high end quality hand made Cue from a Trevor White , Andy Travis , Parris , Coutts etc and i have the cash but the waiting times are terrible sadly and i am concerned with shipping to Australia safely. These Pros just walk in and get what they want ASAP and then have the nerve to ask the Cue maker to remove his own badge?? lol

This is right, he can say what he wants, but ask yourself why would he, why did he stick it up on FB , because he's so outraged by this request, or for a cheap dig and some publicity? For me this is what's wrong, not turning down the order ,which he has every right to, even if you accept Ding is in the wrong, that should be a private matter between the two of them, putting it on a public thing on the internet shows a lack of class and respect.

Agreed, Dave coutts is not silly he's put it on his facebook page simply to attract publicity simples.

Well if i was one of the top end cue makers and was asked by one of the best players to make him a cue, BUT leave off the badge, i would be fuming,
it's like saying i want one of your cues BUT i don't want people to know where it came from, just seems wrong/dodgy to me
I say good on Dave, and whoever else refused Ding, maybe he should learn some respect !!!!
