  • Butt Sizes

hey guys me again another question, this may sound like a silly question but i dont know how else to answer it. i want my new cue to have a 30mm butt, trouble is i have tried 2 others cues with the same butt size but they both felt completely different with one feeling thicker than the other which i liked but im unsure as to why this is and im concerned that i wont get the feel i want when ordering my new custom cue and as it will be a big investmant of my money i would like to get it right . any help would be amazing as always.

Measure them up and down the butt, they both might be 30mm at bottom of the butt, then one might be 29 and then 28mm,the other might be 30mm for the first 4-5 inches.

I have 2 cues with the same specs, tip size, length, weight, butts diameter, balance... & both ash & both cue done by same maker.
Feel different too ~~~~ all wood are different, natural products.

You feel different may not because of the butt diameter, maybe due to the stiffness of shaft or maybe others... though both are 30mm butts diameter.

Any pics of the cue? Is that quite rare not to have any taper from the end up to the splices?
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

you could pop into green baize limited (gbl cues) in Stockton on tees Thornaby Cleveland and speak to stu green he will have all different butt sizes from 29mm to around 30 mm try them out, try before you buy and see what suits you

As I see it, one of them has a thinner shaft. Sometimes two cues have same butt diameter, but not the same shaft taper!!
OR Not the same balance point. The way a cue is balanced, is very important in how the cue feels and how the cue plays. There are some player these plays mutch better with a cue (forward balanced and thinner shaft taper), than a cue (which is backward balanced). That is absolutely a matter of personal preference.
                  What suits ur game ??
IMO, the best thing you can do is: follow the opinion of tiger tiger (above). Go and try different cues and Stu is a great guy. He can explain everything and give u a good advice. !!!
                  Anyway, goodluk .

I stand to be corrected but one cue is bevelled more than the other cue which may give the cue with tbe greater bevel a slim feeling. I stand to b corrected but that is my take on this
