New Will Hunt vs GBL

Just want to find people's opinions on these two makes of cues if anyone can give me advice on which to buy I like the look of both makes of cues just want to find out how they both play.

I think these are basically the same cue. Will Hunt doesn't hide the fact that because of ill health he imports ready shafts from Thailand that he finishes off and badges up.

If you are after a player, I know from experience that ordering a cue is very hit or miss regarding it suiting your game. I suggest you save a potential load of hassle and money and go up to Greenbaize for the day to try out a load of cues. I see Stu is stocking Will Hunt's as well now.

Stu also does not hide the fact that the GBL cues are made to his orders from Thailand.
Will Hunt is also the same, the cues are made for him in Thailand, the arrive finished and badged as Will has no facilites to finish cues himself, unless he gets someone else to finish them for him, ?

The thing to bear in mind above everything else is the fact that no matter what the badge says, cues can play well, or, not so well. There is no magic used by any cue maker, and so they can be, and are, all variable in their relative performance.

As you have been advised, if you're not sure of what you want exactly, then going to try them first is always a good option.

Early Will Hunt cues are still respected today and command a hefty sum of coin, unfortunately his cues of today shouldn't IMO command anywhere near the value they sell at, if his cues play well crack on but at nearly £400 a piece you really are not getting a Will Hunt cue.

Perhaps you aren't getting a WH cue no, but you can pay as much for other Thai branded cues.

Simply put, many buyers today don't know what the hell they are buying, or who made it. So many people are now buying pre-made Thai cues and selling them under all sorts of "brand names" that it's become an absolute minefield for buyers. That's not to say that some fo these cues are not excellent and great value, they are. However, if people really knew what the back story to some cues was, they'd be mortified I'd wager.

Free world though eh, so you pay your money and make your choice.

Like you say, it's not that they are poor quality cues or anything, and a good playing cue is a good playing cue,
but the sticking on of a badge, and transferring a 4 or more fold price increase, does seem to be taking the proverbial.

I understand all points made I was just browsing the Internet as I'm stuck on which brand of cue to buy to get value for my money I've had a lot of responses of people showing me there cues for sale but I just don't know which to choose from.

Seems to me that Will Hunt wishes to sell Thai cues under his name on the back of his reputation gained from when he hand made cues. GBL has gained a good reputation for buying in and selling on Thai made cues probably largely because you can go and try a selection of them before you buy... I would go to the GBL shop and try them. Failing that I would choose a UK cuemaker who hand makes their own cues if you are going to pay around £400 for a re-badged Thai one. Guess lead time also needs to be factored in.

That could be an expensive game. I've never failed to upsell myself when looking at Pete's cues. .

Not Pete's fault, just has such nice cues .

have tried everyone he's got and he's got some nice cues wish i had the money lol

depending where you are based and budget take a trip to green baize at thornaby, not only got gbl and hunt but other quality cues aswell, seen both gb and hunt in stu;s shop and in my opinion the gb cues are a lot better quality and better playability than the will hunt he as in stock, always think if you are paying a lot of money better to try rather than just trust to luck that because a cue as a certain badge it will be a better cue, think of this aswell, skip loads of parris and white and Wooldridge cues come up for sale not a lot of gb, yes its also because a lot of mugs are willing to pay daft money for those cues but if they were that good surely owners wouldn't sell
