im looking at buying a new cue (peradon prince) is this a good cue?
im also looking at getting it a bit lighter (my current cue is 18.7oz) as i heard the lighter the cue the more cue ball control you have.
is this true? what are the differences between light vs heavy and what weight should i get?

That is subjective with weight - what suits one might not suit another -Balance point has a lot to do with it too - I have played with heavier cues with a different balance point that feel lighter - but I think that around 18 is a good weight for me personally with the balance point at around 17. I do feel that a lighter cue is good in the balls but too light and I move slightly on the longer shots - so 18 - 18.5 is my pref depending on the balance point.

I cant help you with Peradon - I am not familiar with that brand.

peradon are hit and miss, they go in and out of a machine, not finished properly, then coated with some slick laqure.. thats not to say there's not a good cue under the lumps and bumps, iv hand finish quite a few peradons that ended up really nice playing cues.
iv used light and heavy cues. my cue is 16.3oz and my last good cue was 15.5. the better you get with a cue you like the better your cue ball control will be, so no i don't think its true. i only see that one long shots with power would be easier with a heavier cue
i wouldn't get a cheep chippy china babe iiwy

It does look nice, what a difference a good finish on a cue can make, far better than how Peradon turn them out.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

straightened, new ferrule, took it down from a 10 to a 9.2, rounded the butt while correcting some damage, but most of all i took out all those nasty lumps and bumps to give it the ultimate finish
