Sorry that my original post should have attracted unwanted responses but I thank those who responded to my question.

I appreciated the sale offers but would prefer to buy 'new' and to try before purchase.

Thanks to all for the helpful comments.

not your fault mate - trying cues is a good idea if you can, although first impressions can lie! the problem is in reality you would need to be near either me, stu green or craftsman cues. not many others would have any stock cues for you to try.

You may be hardpressed to find decent center joint 2pc cues. I would look for a 1pc and have it converted by a good cue maker.
My 2pc B&W is really good - it has a thin brass joint with a longish thread.

                Thank you for that.

Is your cue Burroughes and Watts or B&W Birmingham?

It's a Burroughes and Watts I had made to my specs years ago - fantastic cue really. I had it made into a center joint because I took it with me on public transport a lot in those days. Here are some photo's. I am not selling the cue by the way, just for your information

That's very helpful, Koenradd ... many thanks. Your cue is very similar to the 1-piece B&W I lost almost 40 years ago - just a slightly different colour splice.

That may well be the route I take and I'll post any result in due course. Thank you again!
