i hear you, but your saying that the more open grain is healthier, stronger and some how more say reliable? cus the close grain ones feel like there just as lively and the ones that have moved have been the mid grain, not that i think that means muchOriginally Posted by golferson123 View PostYes its started with rapid growth and then slowed down just like mequality wise i dont really know ,i'm not saying they wont play well just commenting on the grainLast edited by j6uk; 4 July 2015, 07:29 AM.

just my own preference really, I like broad grain ,percentage wise I've found they play better but others may disagree.and I just like the idea of the initial young growth as opposed to the outer growth as its slowing down, and I have found that the broad grain is slightly less pingy, these are my own observations so don't take them as true facts

a cue has fallen long live the cue!
this cue was the second cue from post 365
so after doing the final taper i saw an ant hole appear, i filled it with a wood an glue mix but after finishing an playing with the cue i found it 'okay in the balls but on mid-ong range shots it was kicking/throwing due to this defect hole
the good thing is..
the ferrules alreay gone on the next butterfly

..anyway theres other cues to be getting on with.
heres a couple of club classics i put a bit of time into today. there both a8pool cues that have been extended. one iv turned into a snooker cue 'an i think its gonna hit, the other i extended a couple of inches with a snooker cue butt taper at 30mm. plus with a 2mm low cut black break cue ferrule to give it that brass ping
i willbe taking them both out on the table at some point
