                    havent worked that much with maple as of yet, but the few vintage shafts that i have worked with when restored do seem to have more life to them on the baize when its been weighted right and all the lumps and bumps have been planed out.
                    but i would be interested to know the how what where whys of lumber that would of been used for cues 50 odd years ago, im guessing baring the exotics it would of been farmed closer to home. could start a whole new thread on it..

                          • hold on, here it is before the re re splice. replacing the zebrano with purple heart has taken it up from 17.5 to just over 18oz
