cue tapers

looking for pics and dims of tapers. tapers of your cue, your prefered cue taper or ones you find too thin or chunky.
pics and the last 16"/40cm at 4"/10cm intervals of the cues would be ideal

Sorry, no pics but as I like a medium-flex shaft I found a cue near my specs (it was an H&O) and measured the shaft. What I found was a conical taper which started at 9.4mm and rose 1mm for every 3in of shaft so on a 58in cue I ended up with around a 28.5mm butt width, which is what I prefer.

These were the dimensions I sent to Mike Wooldridge and I also asked for straight and close side grain, recognizing that every piece of ash will react differently but Mike made the cue to my requested specs and probably more through good luck than anything else the cue was exactly what I was looking for.

Not the full specs you were looking for but I had Domonic Dale around a few weeks ago looking for an old cue to use as a playing cue or donor shaft.
His main stipulation was that the cue must be 14.5mm or more at 12", which is like a tree trunk! I think I only has about 13/140 cues that were that thick!
The other point was around thickness of the cue around the splices, I have to say that's one I agree more with - has a massive difference in the power of the cue.

yes the newer stuff is around 24" and the older cues are more like 25 the top of the splices. but its all about the wood

Both 9.5 mate. The Trevor white has a bigger butt though, 30.3mm at the thickest, the Zenith has a 29.6mm butt at the thickest.

The Trevor white feels more solid playing all shots, whereas the Zenith is more responsive and you can get much more spin and reaction on the ball. So essentially, the thicker one is more stable, but the thinner one is more fun...

here's some numbers from a few of the cues I have here, and some description of how I see the flexibility and a tap test; hope it helps:

Dan Shelton, ash, feels slim (just right) and medium stiffness, vibrant, plays very responsive and good cue ball action
Ferrule - 9.5
4" - 11.3
8" - 12.7
12" - 14.0
16" - 14.5

James Button, maple, feels chunky and stiff, dull, wife says it plays solid for her and she likes that.

Ton Praram, ash, feels slim (just right) and medium stiffness, vibrant (touch less than DS), nice solid feel and responsive
