Peradon Newbury with the "Proline" shaft of maple/walnut

    http://www.peradon.co.uk/peradon-cue...ry-(1420).aspx

the OP asked about "ash" laminate shafts, all the ones I have seen have been maple combinations, any actual Ash with something shafts?

Short vid showing one, and he states he had to take the lacquer off it.

I love how peradons "hand spliced" cues are all meant to have an oil finish yet they're clearly all lacquered. Their marketing vids good for a laugh, showing people working on the cues that look like they don't really know what they're doing, check out those splices at the 2:32 mark.

        Sorry for late rplay !!

I think these two woods are not so different. and the main question is what suits your game??
According to the science, maple (good quality maple), is denser than ash!! There are some top players in the world who play with ash.
and they all get good results. As for me: I have always played with ash. I have tried a few cues last time ( maple and Laminated maple),, and I do believe you get much better CB reaction. Less deflection and better CB control. IMO,, your cue action is very important!! If a player like J Trump plays with Maple , I can imagine that he may doesn't like it!! There opposite a player like S Lee. Who likes to play with Maple. Very soft and smooth cue action. Most of the time he let the cue doing its job. Not saying that J Trump can'nt do that,,, he does, but with very different style.
is all about your cue action and timeing!! IMO,, if your timeing is good (during cueing),, you get better result with maple!! But that's just me!!
I am waiting for my cue until he gonna finished ( laminated maple ) and a few days ago bought a maple cue from greenbaize(my brother plays with that). So, as you see our family is going to move from ash to maple .lol ,,, hahaha
If I were you, I would try a few maple cues, and see wether they suit with your game and ur cue action or not. And then gonna make this decision.
I wish you good luk!! and enjoy ur game !!

Let me know when you get them Andrew, been trying to get one to replace the Ton Praram I sold. I know the Doc had them, but not sure if he still has as he did not reply to me.

Has O'min got another website, can't see any laminated shafts on this one?

Well I have to say I don't get this they look weird - why not just take the 700 pound or whatever they cost and go buy a proper ash one or use a maple cue and what is laminated - are these cues just marked up maple cues? - inquired Byrom whilst reaching for the biro

                    Bump!!

I went into a well known Australian Snooker makers shop today who makes beautiful Snooker tables and i noticed he had a some Cues for sale mostly all cheaper stuff like Peradon and entry level articles. Anyway he had a Riley laminated shaft as well and this was his most expensive Cue that he wanted $750 Australian dollars for it which i thought was pricey but gee it looked a treat with the laminated grains etc.

It was right at end of my lunch break so i could not have a hit with it and have anymore people played with laminated shafts on here with opinions on them?? The guy at the shop said they play way better than normal Ash/Maple Cues but he is also trying to sell it so i took that comment with a grain of salt but it did feel nice in the hands and had good Specs/weight etc.
If it is called " Common sense " why is it so rare???

                      Hi Chappy,

I'm currently using laminated cue from Niche.
I sold the rest of my cues after getting use to the cue.
Personal preference though, some people told me my cue looks fake, toys, nice, neat etc.. I didn't care.
It just feels good to me.
                      Cheers ^^

The word is plywood Byrom, made from several layers of maple with a darker wood glued between them to look like the grain on an ash shaft, although the grain of each layer runs the length of the shaft rather than one counter to the other as in sheets of plywood. I myself wouldn't trust the laminates to stay together given the forces upon the shaft when hitting snooker shots with extreme power.

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
                                I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)
