  • Cue shaft finish affect stiffness?

Can an ash cue shaft's stiffness/flex be affected by its finish?

For example, lacquer can make the cue feell plastic on striking; oil makes cue feels soft, without any finish, it feels stiff?

Not really tbh. There is a few ways to make a cue slightly stiffer but not a huge amount.
It is possible to soak a cue in a watered down resin or wood glue. Once it soaks in it will harden and make the cue slightly stiffer. Caution though, it will need refinished and it is very easy for the cue to lose it shape. If doing so I'd always do it with cue hanging by some method to dry.

Not for the faint of heart it sounds like.
The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
