have you addressed the fact that 'some of the greats of the game' say it doesn't exist or matter and that it is all in your mind? now what? why did all of the greats of the game say nothing about it until it was miraculously recently noticed?
if you came out with a tip that potted more balls, you will get pros to endorse it
simple answer is to prove it, just set the robot up and show a measurable difference - why is this not done?
think about what you are saying, you think something can make a difference that is so miniscule it doesn't matter, but you can't show or prove it, but it's done by changing a tiny part of a cue that doesn't contact the ball and therefore has more effect than the cue weight or tip size or how the shot is played?

what about cue weight, or tip weight or size or even the weight of the player, how about atmospheric conditions?
there are some cracking wind ups on this thread, top effort all round, unlucky to those who aren't joking

seriously mate, if you can't prove it exists, it doesn't need to be disproved, Terry Griffiths has a different opinion to you and others but if you want to believe in something you cannot prove, crack on
coaches sell coaching lessons, did you see that side, no? you need another lesson
it does exist in your mind though, that's a fact

have you ever seen mark playing in a tournament with Riley Elegance ??? does this means that Riley Elegance is the best snooker cue ??
some of the greats in the game have spoken in support of them ???? which one was it ? Steve Davis?? the one who got 6 world titles plus more than 35 ranking tournaments with brass ferrul ??
I've played with MW cue. was one of the best cues that I have ever owned and played with . Also played with predator Z2 shafts with Synt ferrule ( great players ). No one is saying, you can'nt play with another type of ferrule. As long as the cue suits your game, you can play with any cue!!
But the fact is, deflection,, is caused by the shaft (wood).
and the poor technique of the player!!
each wood has its own character and deflect differently !! that's one of the reasons why every cue plays differently!! This has nothing to do with Ferrule!!
and the main thing is: your errors in the game of snooker and art of cueing,, has nothing to with ferrule / cue / or ... but has everything t do with ur arm and urself !!

All you do is recycle your old lines. YOU have NO evidence to support any of your counter theories; ZERO. I go by empiricism and Terry/MW/Acuerate/ etc have it all. If TD says a shorter ferrule throws less, it does. We all know thinner walled ferrules throw less, or at least I do, as someone who has tipped many cues and had a strike with every one; I know exactly how thick every ferrule is on every cue I tip zombie, by memory. I've played with a cue with no ferrule and it minimises throw the most so I already know that the more brass you add, the more throw; endmass.

I bought an old John Spencer machine spliced cue on this forum a few months ago and I've hand spliced a new walnut butt onto it, in between the old machine splices, so in theory it has the characteristics of both or maybe neither.
Could this cue in the hands of a top century break player finally put an end to this argument ???
It does have a nice shaft but a brass ferrule BTW so for some it's gonna deflect like crazywhile for others it won't.
