That's how my MW rocket cue is jointed as well, I haven't got any photos at the minute & just for the record I had mine well before SD had his, so he copied it from me!!!................
Would drive me absolutely crazy when after awhile the splices would not line up.
They don't line up on JRC's pic already.. it's already offending my OCD.

They do line up initially, but the nature of the joint and all the screwing and un-screwing together over time can on a lot of occasions lead to the joint moving/rotating slightly. As a result the splices do not match up either side of the joint. This happens on all jointed cues, but it is unnoticeable on the traditional 3/4 split (splices above the joint).
