  • cue mark up???

Hey guys, just wondering about you opinions about something that has happened to me recently. I enquired about a potential swap with a well known cue maker a while back. I'd waited a long time for a custom cue to arrive, couldn't play with it so needed a swap, and said cuemaker was keen on the idea. When I'd driven 70 odd miles to see him, I was informed he valued my cue at £320,I argued the toss and was fed with reasons why it was worth the amount. I chose a cue apparently worth the same and went off happy enough,I had a new cue. However I've just noticed on the cuemakers website my old cue is on for £780!!!!!! Now obviously we all need to make a buck, but i feel Ive been slipped a length from the back slightly!!!!!
    Thoughts????

Business is business lol, just because he is asking that much doesn't mean he will get it tho ?
If he is in the right ball park tho, maybe you should of done some homework on cue prices

if you take a cue to Dave Coutts looking for a sale you should of done your research on how he offers very little to buy a cue yet charges the price of a house when he sells a cue. Ps he is a business so he's going to want to make money so you can't blame him.

Not only D Coutts,, This goes for the most of cue agents!! (or people who sell cues as a business). This has to do with the time!! is not always so, that they can sell a cue within 1 day. Sometimes it takes longer and sometimes they ( after waiting weeks/months ) need to reduce the price so they can still sell the cue. That is the risk of their Business !! This may not sound good for the customers as gagg8ball ,, and to be honest I understand why he is upset!! But if you want to get more money for your cue, eBay is a better option ,,imo !!!you may have to wait abit longer, but in the end you get more money!! although,,, I do'nt know what you have to pay for the costs to ebay on these days !!

I think what he gave you was fair for a cue that should then retail again for £500, he's got to cover his shop costs. Anyone paying 780 for an RB maple is daft. I love RB and his cues are excellent but prices are going silly. Yes, the mkt price is the equation of supply and demand but intrinsic value is below mkt price IMO, not much value. The Thais will make a custom cue, the equal of anything TW/MW/JP can make for £300 in 3mths. I'd advise anyone to order that route than waster 780 smackeroos.

I agree you can get same quality cheaper, but prestige badges will always have a place
