Question for the cuemakers please regards removing the female side of a brass joint (butt side). Is the only way to remove it by drilling it out and fitting a new joint? I know the joints are part threaded but am I correct in thinking no one bothers to tap the hole and they are just glued in.

I would direct a blow torch flame down it ( carefully ) first to hopefully loosen the glue then put joint together and see if is slack enough to pull or unscrew out. -

depending on the glue used depends how much heat needed to make it loose enough , so steady on the heat as just enough needed to remove and not burn the timber , and some just pull out and some have threads so trial and error , should be easy enough when you startOriginally Posted by Maverick54 View Post

That's great info thanks and yes as you say should the joint need to be heated up again in the future to change it then sounds like Araldite would be the best bet.
Appreciate all the advice now to put it into practice

screw in a male joint warm the male joint this will loosen the glue and unscrew and pull out,Comment
