  • Have you ever made a rash purchase?

You ever jumped in quick and made a rash purchase without thinking it through and then regretted it?

Think i've just had my first senior moment. Looking on the bay I spotted a cue set complete with case that had only just been listed and was going for a cheap price or make an offer. That looks nice I thought and made a quick offer £30 below the asking price. Hadn't really looked at the specs (which are wrong for me) and I wont embarrass myself any further by disclosing the brand of the cue.

Now ive bought enough cues to know better but when I got an almost immediate offer accepted message I jumped straight in an paid for it.

Why did I do that? was I bored? lost the plot? early signs of dementia?

I don't need it, I don't bloody want it and its being delivered to day

Have you ever made a stupid quick purchase without thinking it through?

Do this all the time, I'm forever buying off spec cues for no other reason than they seem cheap! I currently have at least 3 55" cues that I need to stick back on eBay, because I took a gamble on bad adverts, and lost!!!!
No one is listening until you make a mistake!

No, in fact I'm quite the opposite to the point whereby I look, look, look and then walk away to think about it. Then I look, look, look some more, walk away etc.
I never seem to able to buy stuff I need, let alone buy something I don't! There must be some scottish blood in me because I'm as tight fisted as they come!!

Better to be that way than a cue tart with a house full of unplayed junk and still searching for the one!

I bought a cheap maple cue off fleabay once. Turned out to be as stiff as a broom, more clunkwood from you know where. That got sold once I refinished it. And that 3/4 ash cue from fleabay, hammer joint and clunkwood as well. That got sold. But it's very boring, having to sell cues you don't like, so I'm more circumspect now.

Pose lots of questions to the seller about what you want from the cue. If they don't reply, it's a definite no no.

Yep! Brought a "hand-made" cue from China, it did ok but you could tell it was utter pony! Only brought it because it was cheap and I have a habit of getting frustrated and taking it out on my cue Decided to buy a cue from Dunns hopefully this one will fair better!

In the past few weeks, I've bought ten cues. From quality hand made with provenence, to dodgy pictures on ebay (mainly for the case that came with them)....I've done okay out of them....six are decent playing cues. I'm keeping 2 snooker, and 2 pool...the rest go in my pool rack for visitors. I needed some okay cues for my pool table.

I was looking for a new cue, ten was probably a bit over the top. So there's probably some rash in there!

yes but to buy a second one after you have owned one is the definition of a rash purchase!

just a little update. Played 4 frames tonight with this cheap cue I never wanted and didn't need. Won all 4 including clearing all the colours in one of them, perhaps I did need it after all and just didn't know it

This made me laugh - My first car was a AR sud sprint - Head gasket blew first day I had it - it overheated n stopped no word of a lie the thing went in garage and just died never came out again despite the mechanics best efforts and a few hundred quid - he just gave up and so did I. I been lucky since then with cars - can I ask you why you bought 2?
