Re-weight question

Hey Lads. I'm not sure if I will need to yet but if I was to get a 3/4 Lion Powerglide extended and the weight moved, is that a simple enough job? How are they weighted? I'm assuming a simple move of the weight will maintain a good distribution and all that. Is that right? Thanks in advance.

If the weight remains where it is and you add some splices to extend the cue length, the cue will become forward weighted a bit. This is desirable as it makes the cue more balanced between the hands and leads to increased power on some spin shots. Got a pic of your Lion? A friend is having this done (+ weight reduction) by a local cue doctor, I think for £40 which is a bargain.

Nothing to see really mate. And that 40 sounds alright to me, hopefully it works out for him. I've got my eye on something else now but with still the same predicament. I had a look at a cheapo 60 inch cue today and it felt perfect in the hand. Unfortunately I couldn't have a hit with it, but I didn't really care as it was a cheap Chinese thing. It was good though because it's reassured me that I for some reason need a javelin. The big surprise was the balance was at 22. So if I get something extended I might actually end up moving the weight forward as well as extending.

That is almost unheard of, most well balanced cues are in the region of 17" to 18", but 22" would suggest it's been made by someone who doesn't know anything about cues ??

How did they get the BP at 22? Split cue?

Standard range of balance point is 16 to 18 inches.

It was a centre split G.C.E...... I had a 60 inch made from a well known maker and the balance was at 18 and it felt completely wrong. I know some of the Powerglides were very forward balanced. I saw a T800 at 19 and it was 57.75. Some say the balance should be a third of the cue length generally speaking which puts a 60inch at 20. I used to have a 62 inch Dufferin that was brilliant. It was from the mid 90's. Just perfect maple. Very solid and predictable. I've never seen these long Dufferins since. They were just machine rosewood.

Ok, so they weighted twice with some lead behind the joint, and some in the butt?

Usually I would agree, but it felt fine. Only an inch or two in this case. Don't forget its 60 inches long.
