Converting from 3/4 to one piece

Hi every one,

I have a 3/4 cue ash, rosewood butt,

another one full ash with painted butt

can it b converted to 1pc.

like removing n replacing the brass joint with wooden dowel n then re splice.

any insight would b appreciated..

Good question.
I have never heard of it but with some chewing gum, blue-tack and a double ended screw who knows!!
I wonder if the "feel" of the cue may be lost if done.
Also, wonder what cost would be??

Wasn't there a Parris on ebay that had been de-jointed and was highlighted on TSF? Maybe Deano can help?

I can see some feel being brought back in to the cue. Not sure how much it would cost though, probably not cheap. It's a way of lengthening the cue at the same time if it needs to be done.

If you're moving up to 1-piece (good move), you're probably doing it to get some feel in to the shot. If you glue bond the two halves with a wooden joint (this is simply a round of timber with a tenon at each end that fits in the two holes where the brass joints where) then you will achieve this aim to some extent, especially if the timber is ash like the cue (or maple like the cue). But it still won't have as much feel or structural strength as a 1-piece.

So sell this cue and buy a 1-piece!

Thanks for that. I think the JP we saw on ebay had not been respliced (yikes!), so yeah, I'm guessing about +100 at local cue doc. How much would you charge Golf?

Here in India i live in a very small town. There's no cue maker in my entire radius of 1000 Kilomtrs as far as im aware of.
never ever even heard of a cue maker here.

there are some mass manufacturer based in New Delhi and Chennai but majority of the cues are imported frm China n Thailand.

owning a cue even a cheap one is considered luxury forget about the TW's n JP's
brands like MasterCue n Omin in your hand have enough snob value for others to beeeeeeeeeee jealous!

exactly - it can be done but in reality it is a different cue anyway.

You would be better off starting with a square of ash or maple mate. Trying with a 3quarter is an exercise in pain.
