Suggest you try a Mike Wooldridge Supertip or Black Spin both excellent all round tips. Currently using a Blackspin no bedding in, Mushrooming etc... I use the same cue (17.5oz, 57" 9.25mm) for Snooker, Pool and have no worries breaking with it.
Id recommend getting a phenolic break tip pick one up cheap from ebay, put it on an average weight snooker cue and you wont be disappointed, i done it with a 1pc peradon joe davis best cue ive had for breaking
