  • Powerglide Cues; great value?

All made in China no doubt but for £35 you can have a hand spliced 3/4 cue:

And up at £80, you get a nice hand spliced cue with veneers and mini butt and soft case:

A lot of no-name/crap name cues flying around second hand at silly prices at the moment yet Powerglide are dropping cues that look incredible value but rarely get mentioned. If members have experienced their Heritage, Professional or Tournament cues, let us know. Parrot says the Purist is the best off the rack cue that can be bought. High praise indeed.

It seems to me that they've got the sub-£100 market nailed down. These are NEW cues remember and you get UK consumer protection built in.

What makes a Powerglide cue made in China any better than any other Chinese made cue for the same price?

So has anyone tried these cues, are they any good for the money or a bit Yian-Ying? The market seems to be moving on at a hell of a pace.

No issue with powerglide in the 80s apart from painted butts good cues,no idea who or where they are made now,but if £80 buys you a hand made cue dont expect a lot

Golf, check this out, the 'Diplomat' (a name they've used for decades) features a Bakelite joint. I've never seen that before. Has anyone else? Back in the day Powerglide did a single plastic ring centre joint with brass thread and socket hidden inside which helped to maintain feel, a forerunner of the invisible joint we see on Aurora/MW today. But bakelite, why that material I wonder?

Yeah, the hit from a 'plastic' collar jointed cue is really nice, takes all that brass hammer out of the equation. Even though I'm now anti-joint. lol
