Recommendations for new cue

Hi,
I'm looking for a new cue. I've had a peradon cue that cost about £70 2 or 3 years ago. It's fine but as I'm playing a higher standard now and might have a chance at county trials at pool, I was wondering whether it would be worth getting a better cue. I would be for snooker and pool. Does it make much of a difference? My cue feels slightly too long, I think an inch shorter might be better. Also, a cue of a better standard might help me. I was thinking of a master craft cue. They seem reasonably priced for hand made cues. I wouldn't want to pay much more than £250 really. Thanks for any advice.

a friend has a Master Craft cue for snooker and he loves it

If you are playing UK pool then 9mm or below ferrule is what you want but for snooker you need over 9mm...
or that is what is the usual consensus
what is the length of your current cue? how tall are you?

Thanks for the welcome. I play both uk pool and snooker. The tip on my current cue is 9.5mm. To be honest I've found this ok for pool and wouldn't necessarily want a thinner tip as I play snooker too. Also i can't afford two cues really!

My current cue is 57" and I'm 5ft4". When I play often there is a lot of cue out the back, but at the same time I don't want to go really short as sometimes it's useful for reach shots in snooker. So I'm thinking of 55.5 or 56".

Recommendations for new cue

with Master Craft you could ask for a 3/4 with two shafts, one at 9.5 and one at (say) 8.7mm
or just get one at 9mm
length - try some cues at a shorter length to test?

I'm not sure I know what you mean by two shafts. I think I'll go for 9.5mm. To be honest, i find 9.5mm fine for pool, I can get plenty of spin on the pool and I think it feels more solid. I'm not sure where I could try cues of a shorter length. I have an old pool cue, which I use on my small pool table at home. Perhaps I'll go for 56" which is just one inch shorter than my snooker cue. Thanks.

He means if you get a 3/4 cue then you could ask for 2 shafts to be made so you can use the same butt for both snooker and pool but still have separate shafts to play each game.
If your happy with 9.5mm for both then that's the way to go, mastercraft cues are excellent, i love mine
