  • New cue ordered - Glover Cues

    Hi all,
As some of you may know from my previous posts i was looking for a new cue, specifically for english pool. Im very happy with my MW snooker cue so no changes there.

After advice from you guys and others i decided on Tony Glover to make my new cue. The specs are as follows,
55.5 x 8.5 x 30mm butt, 16.5oz, 1 piece cue with a butt joint for extensions. Tony was very helpful today when i went down to his shop to place the order and offered a good deal of advice on the timbers and design for the cue. We decided on an lovely honey coloured aged piece of ash for the shaft and cocobolo for the butt with some very thin ebony splices to divide the shaft from the butt.
The cue will have a brass thin walled ferrule and cocobolo 6" extension. Badge will be rectangular in a Ye old Ash cue style. Waiting time around 6 months.

I also asked if it would be possible, since i live close by, to pop in afew times and take some pics of the build over the 6 months. I will post the pics on this thread as time goes by.

Hope you guys find it interesting.

    Kind regards
    Tom

    Hi Tom
Congrats on ordering your new pool cue. I picked up my new Burwat Champion replica from Tony earlier this week and I couldn't be happier with it. He made me exactly the cue I was hoping for and it was ready exactly 6 months from the day I placed the order. I also really like the fact that Tony lets you visit his workshop to discuss your cue in person. I'm sure your new cue will be great mate.

You don't hear many talking Glover on here yet he's up there in the top 3 cue makers IMO.

I sometimes need that wee extension, especially when reaching over other balls, with a length of table stretch.

Doesn't happen often, but it's handy to have for those rare occasions. .

Thanks for the comments guys, it took me along time to decide who to get to make the cue i wanted but afew things led to my decision, firstly Tony's customer service was excellent, he could not have been more helpful, secondly the fact i wanted an old wood shaft and he really likes/appreciates old cues and more importantly had the right wood to work with for the shaft in stock. The one piece is a gorgeous bit of aged timber. Obviously its far to early to see what sort of shaft it will turn out to be but it looks really nice so far. He also had a shaft he was already part way through from a very similar piece and that looked and felt stunning. The colouring was like an early B&W shaft, thats the look i wanted and i think it will look really nice with the cocobolo and ebony butt.

My last 56" english pool cue had a 6" extension and no i didnt use it very often at all but on the occasions i did i was pleased i paid that bit extra for it.
