one piece cues

hi all

just wanting your opinions on those of you who have one piece cues....
i have an old ash one which is great, but taking it around is quite a hassel and clumbersome.

been try to get used to a 3 piece cue with no avail.

how do u find 3 quarter cues and one piece, how they play and transport?

I have a one piece and it can be a pain. In fact I looked at some two seater cars resently then realised I couldn't fit the bloody thing in!
I think one pieces are still better; more pros seem to be using them again!

I use a 3/4 cue at the moment, but ordered a 1 piece heard alot of good things about them and i have always wanted one.

Its always been said that a 1 piece cue will give a better feel than a jointed cue and as the game is about touch you want a piece of wood that will give you that feel for the shot.

I know of 3 players who have changed from a jointed cue to a 1 piece purely on having a few shots with my cue. They all said that they liked the feel and response the cue gave them and they were converted, albeit I think my cue is pure quality and you can't always guarantee that all 1 piece cues will give the same feel and response.

thanks for all your views, i am currently trying to get used to a parris champion cue which is 3/4, but my one piece felt a lot better, but was a pain carting it on the bus!
also ya get odd looks from people like ya got a rifle

but suppose will end up going back to my one piece cue

done properly there is no difference between the feel during play between a one piece and a 3/4 cue - i suspect the trouble is that the cue is not well enough jointed - there is no way in theory that a brass joint could effect the feel of a wooden cue. a good cue is a good cue and a bad cue is a bad cue regardless of joints.

No doubt a 50/50 cut cue is the easiest to lug around but I 'm finding my one piece is easier than my 3/4. Probably because the 3/4 is in an ali case and if your not careful it'll dent very easily in the boot of a car and scuffing the ends on a bus is almost a given. My one piece however is in a plastic tube (plumbing pipe worth about £5/£6) with a couple of rubber caps on each end from a fishing tackle shop at the vast expense of 50p each the thing is virtually indestructable.

Might need a rethink if i get a telescopic extension though, a mini butt fits in my pocket but a telescopic one in there might give the girls the wrong idea.

Im currently in the middle of sorting out a new cue which is going to be 1 piece, i use a 3/4 at the minute, ive tried a 1 piece before but thought it played differently, i cant describe how, my wooldridge 3/4 hits the ball harder and the 1 piece felt soft when taking on long pots? thats the best i can descirbe it really

i dont know if this had anything to do with either cue or the tips, perhaps trevor can shed some light on the subject?

No one cue will outplay another on the basis of it being a one piece or jointed in some way.

Obviously, they'll be different due to their construction but in all honesty, one cue can stand out above a number of others for various reasons, but rarely due to it being jointed or not.

It's a preference thing and that's all. If a player likes a cue to be on the heavier side, a three quarter cue will offer more of that one particuler attribute than a typical one piece, but, one piece cues can be built heavier if required.

There are too many individual factors in cues to be able to definitively say one type is the best choice. In my experience, players could be just as happy to use a great one piece as a great three quarter cue, it comes down to preference.
