That's a bit uncalled for Bolton Cueman. I'm new and have been getting as much info from my questions as possible.

fair doos, but you must realise that you should trawl the old threads on a particular topic to arm yourself with previous replies, and saying I do not believe you at a respected member is not going to sit well! now deep breaths and lets get off on the right foot

The reason I am pushing the Parris issue is because I want my own Ultimate but if in anyway there may be any kind of anomalie I would rather save my £1000

even if all those ultimats on this forum are made to perfection, that does'nt mean the cue you're ordering gonna be perfect an suits ur game .
I can see you love JP cues . well, nothing wrong with that . if u want to play with jp cues , so be it. it's ur money.
But when u place ur order for a cue ( JP or any other cue maker in the world ), it's always a risk.
of crs, in case thr re sum problems with that cue , you can always send it back so they can fix it ( to repair it ). but that's gonna take sum time .
that's why i think the best way to buy a cue is, try it before u buy it ( OR at least get the chance to see it ).
In my opinion the best way to buy a JP ultimate is , just find the best ultimate on ebay ( in new condition ) go and meet the owner an take a look at the cue
( an try it if u get the chance ) , then buy it . It's true , u may pay a bit more , but u save urself a lot of risk and waiting time . ( not saying u should do this bdw , it's just my opinion ).

The cue in question was a Parris Exclusive, I do have pics but none showing the splices. Trust me though mate, they were way out.

I have done some research and found quite a lot of things wrong with a few Parris cues. Cheers

Been doing lots of research and I believe there are better cues than a JP ultimate on the market and not as expensive. I know if the right JP ultimate turns up then you have a great cue but seems more and more are turning up with defects so I'm staying away. I'm now down to 2 cue makers for my next cue, MW and AT. Both I must add are very vague with emails. Mike is like ' just email me the order and pay the money' (he obviously didn't say that but its how he comes across) and Andy is not communicating too well.
I will keep trying to decide and just get on with it.

As for MW , is a great guy to deal with. He makes a great cues with great palyblty .
i do'nt know about others , but i've never heard a bad review about him.
Anyway, I hope u can find the right one and enjoy ur game .

Yes that certainly is a beautiful cue but I refuse to pay that sort of money for one. But thanks for taking the time to find it and post the link.

As for my comment about Mike I meant it in the nicest way. He's a great guy with a great sense of humour, you only have to read some of the stuff on his website to realise that.

I have seen and heard great things about Mike and Andy Travis so will do a bit more research and take it from there.

As long as u can find a cue that suits ur game and enjoy playing with it . That's the main thing my friend .

I have/do own cues from all three makers. The idea that Parris makes the best cues is a myth based on marketing. Some Parris cues are very good, many are not. Personally I believe the lottery of waiting an age for an Ultimate given the asking price and variable quality is ludicrous. Mike W will not waste time talking about cues. He will deliver you a cue with great playability and if there is a problem he will put it right without argument. Andy is small scale in comparison but is 100% reliable and a good person. The cue he made for me is the one that most people try to buy immediately after I let them try it. It is not for sale. After all that is said, my playing cue is a Trevor White. And in the end, it's really all about the player, not the cue.

What's the betting that this thread goes on for ages and no cue is actually brought??
Did you put my "1" up ?
