I've heard of folk putting a bit of tape on the butt of the cue to mark where you grip... but gouging out the butt for 'grip' ... gotta be a joke

Not too good for snooker as when you get closer to the cushion or intervening balls you grip the cue in different places. Alright I suppose for a break cue where grip would always be in the same spot

Well I wont be buying it because it "...has a slight crack in Ebony veneer on butt..." :rolleyes-new:

reminds me of a cue I saw many years ago where a dog had chewed the butt!
