Head movement on that miscue j6, nothing to do with the tip.
Nice cue, what wood for the butt ? looks like utile or mahogany.

Am I right in saying this is a bit heavier than your playing cue? Don't know if you are timing shots better now with playing a wee bit but you seem to move the white around far easier with that cue.
Looks like it plays great, but it's in good hands lol.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

yeah its an ounce heavier at 17.3oz. its livelier than my cue, but i wasnt thinking about playing so in probibly timed things better too. also trying to talk more than play so as not to exceed 5min cus loading can be a pain.
the other cue too is a hitter, very different feel with more give in the body but with the same shudder all the way through the cue.
i feel things have really moved on in the workshop

how the hell can you tell its 'good quality ash' by the sound of it hitting the cueball?

              ffs...

i do'nt know is the honest answer. I just listen to the sound an Judge about the qulty of the ash.
whenever i buy a cue , it's the first thing i do. listen to the sound .
do you have sum better idea or sumthing to add ??

i dont think your doing anything wrong at all by listening to the sound of the cue, its what i would listen out for.
then you've got the cue maker playing with the cue and comenting on what hes made, from scratch.
                  and theres more to come..

the sound of the cue , says a lot about the cue, imo.
of crs, cue action is also important. if u do'nt strike the ball well, it'll be sounds diff .
in this case , you have a very nice cue action, so how this cue sings is just about perfect .

this is the latest, a cue that hardly touched the sides in terms of sanding..

                        Nice.

Like the grain pattern in this one, unusual.

Also like the slow start to your cueing....smooth.

By sight, not what I would consider a nice piece of ash, but you never know what the response will be until you try them. Will be perfect for someone somewhere no doubt.

because of the obsession for straight grain
