New cue with square grip

I am thinking about ordering a new cue and have the grip made like it is on my american pool cue, not including the leather:

Is it allowed for the cue to have a square grip like this, with 4 facets?

don't see why not, in the WPBSA rules all it says is:
"A cue shall be not less than 3ft (914mm) in length and shall show no substantial departure from the traditional and generally accepted shape and form."
to me it does not depart from the traditional/accepted enough to "not be allowed".

The part where you grip the cue isnt actually square (which wouldnt be comfortable) but more like an octagon shape, which then "fades" into a round form. I can take precise measurements of the butt end and post them here is you are interested?

Id like to try it.
I play with flat of cue, where the badge is in the palm of my hand, but this easier.
