    Just wondering what this wood is

    It's very striking , nice looking too

    Looks like either wenge or bocote

        Yes that's definitely it . My photo isn't good but the wood is really nice . Not seen it before.

          Lovely wood when it is finished but a right pain to work with, can be hard as iron and can splinter.

              Yes Bill the very first cues I made were Wenge it ages really nicely.

                  It's OK to work with but difficult to finish as it has many little shakes and cracks that need filling.
