    Excellent thanks

I have an old 2nd hand cue given to me many many years ago, no idea of its specs, and as I haven't played in a very long time I'm happy to start again with a fresh cue, its going to take me some time to get used to any cue either way?

Excellent thanks as well, good to hear

    • Do what I'm doing and keep going the halls (with a measuring tape) and play the old rack cues, when you find one you like then you measure. Trust me mate take your time especially if you're looking to spend a good few quid on a nice cue. That said I suppose if you stay within the boundries of middle-spec then your game will just adapt to the cue anyway but if you're going to do this then definately stay middle-of-the-road if unsure.

Ah Parris website have a good FAQ for these type questions, it might be worth you having a ganders maybe.

      • Just had a look on Parris FAQ and he states anything between 9mm and 10mm with 9.5mm being the average.

        • Yeah I think the specs I'm looking for are classed as middle of the road so I should be OK, tomorrow I'll post up my short list and see what everyone thinks, I'm just keen to order on Monday when GBL opens, can't wait to get cracking and start playing again

          Appreciate your input so far

          • I probably should add I'm crap at snooker mate but I'm working on it and it seems to be moving forward. I'm ordering one off Andy Travis but I've been banging away for 6 odd months now using different hall cues so I'm ready to commit. I was going to get a Peradon to start with.

Where do you order an Andy Travis cue from?

                • Hi guys,

Right, I'm down to a choice of 4 cues, all from Stu @ Green Baize, and strangely enough, all are Niche cues

                  Listed in price order:

                  1) Niche Excellence £220 http://www.greenbaize.com/niche-handmade-cues-3/ 4th Excellence cue on the page (Brown with Green & Cream veneers)

                  2) Niche Ultimate £325 http://www.greenbaize.com/niche-ultimate-cues/ 3rd one on the page (Darker Brown)

                  3) Niche Ultimate £325 http://www.greenbaize.com/niche-ultimate-cues/ Last one on the page (Lighter Brown)

                  4) Niche Ultimate £375 http://www.greenbaize.com/niche-ultimate-cues/ 1st one on the page (Black & Red)

So my gut is telling me either the cheapest one or the most expensive, cheapest because it allows me to get all the other bits I need and still be a great price (I can also afford a set of 3g Aramith balls with this option too), but is it a good cue? And the most expensive because I really like the look of it, but it does stretch my budget a fair bit and also I'm a little concerned over the 10mm ferrule?

So that's where I'm at? Any takers?

                  • I've discounted the 2 middle ones, so it's between the £220 Excellence and the £375 Ultimate?

They all look sexy mate but no one could really point you in the right direction I would say.
All depends how they feel in your hands - how they play / hit etc.
There lies the main problem, especially if you are worried re the 10mm ferrule.

Doesnt help I know...so good luck, hope you find the right cue

Are there better cues for less?

Thanks, Stu says they both play well and his preference is the £375 1pc cue, it hits hard and has lots of power, which I like, he also said the 3/4 Excellence is well balanced and plays nice.

                              • I don't know anymore. Been away a long time. Just shocked on the price increase across the board of makers.

I wouldn't pay that for a Thai cue. I know that.... Jeez 375 quid.

That ultimate you posted looks lovely though....

Hope you find what your looking for man, its a mare trying to pick cues, eh! Lol
