It's very old cues that get the splices lifting, you don't tend to get in cues which are newer, say made in 80s onwards, think weight added like andy does was done in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Andy appreciates this comment. His motivation for making these videos is to pass on the knowledge that he's gained throughout the last 36 or so years. This is both a knowledge of vintage cues plus of cue-making itself. He see's and hears a lot that he knows is wrong about both subjects and hopes through his video's that anyone interested in either vintage cues or the craft of making a high quality snooker cue will be better informed. If there are particular topics that anyone would like to see covered then let us know.

My pleasure, you can tell he is a passionate guy about his cues.
Great to see him at work and his wealth of knowledge.

How about what he does when the shaft he's working on develops a bend after the first initial cut with the bandsaw.

Myself I don't cut initially with a taper for this reason, I cut square and leave it for a month or six weeks to rest, then if it has developed a bend I have more timber to plane it out, leave to rest again etc.

Do you know if Andy just weights his cue this way or uses a second method?

Another great video from Andy, I love listening to him as he is a wealth of knowledge and comes out with some unusual things you wouldn't normally think of.

Does anyone else weight this way nowadays on here? It would be interesting to see what they think.......
