  • Timber identification.

    Good afternoon, gentlemen.

Would anyone care to take a guess at the front splice wood of the cue lying second from left?

          Good evening, sir.

It's the butt of a telescopic cue, made by Roger Bucknall in the 1980s. I just put it alongside my other cues for a photograph to a friend in relation to another subject we were chatting about. I did post several pictures of the whole cue on an earlier thread if you were interested: I think the title was something like "What value would you place upon this cue?"

          Culraven.

Many thanks for your suggestions, sir. I don't know the wood myself I should hasten to add, hence seeking the opinions of the good folk on here. Padauk and purple-heart feature on the other two cues, and I know my three-quarter model sports a rather beautiful butt of macassar ebony.

Ah, thanks T&M I didn't put the threads together in my head as I thought the extending cue was a one piece, very interesting.
