I hope you are joking because I take slight offense to that.

The fact you played well was nothing to do with the fact the cue was a one piece, but, possibly more to do with the facts that:

      A) you are capable of playing to that level.

      B) the cue you used just happened to be a reliable one.

      C) because it wasn't your own cue, the level of expectation was far less.

      The above points alone: =
A decent player, using a reliable cue, with very little expectation of playing well or poorly......can lead to a decent performance.

      There's no surprise in that.

Well I pointed it out because I was playing awful with a two piece and decided to try a one piece cue from the rack and it ust felt right.

But they do say 80% is mental

you might have been playing badly, but it won't be purely because your cue was a jointed one and that's a fact.

It might be because the jointed cue you've been using is a poor one, which doesn't play too well, I don't know.

But ultimately, a great player will be able to play great snooker with any very good, reliable cue that feels comfortable to them, jointed or not.

if you are playing these breaks with a rack cue then you are a century breaker for sure, at this level of play you can throw the cue out of the window, its not the difference, anyone who tells you different is a fool. joints, who gives a toss - you need to work on your mental application to the table - the ability is clearly already there. any decent reliable cue will be enough, you already have the potential.

Just thought of an advantage with a one piece: You can reach further.

It's true, when your packing up your cue and a fight breaks out you can smack the buggers from furher back with a one piece.

Oh God, that has reminded me of something.

Years ago in a local pub, a guy I knew, Derek, (decent player) was challenged to a game of 8 ball pool for cash. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the game went ahead and the challenger was getting hammered.

The game was almost at a finish when the big mouthed challenger lifts his cue and whacks old Derek across the head with the butt end.
Not content with that, he then hit him again, same way, same place.
Only by this time Derek had put his hands on his head due to the pain of the first blow, leading to three broken fingers on his right hand and a handsome lump on the head.

Believe it or not, the guy then proceeds to apologise for doing it, asking if old lumpy head Derek was ok. He replied that he was, and that was the end of it...........incredible.

                        True that.
