The fact you played well was nothing to do with the fact the cue was a one piece, but, possibly more to do with the facts that:
A) you are capable of playing to that level.
B) the cue you used just happened to be a reliable one.
C) because it wasn't your own cue, the level of expectation was far less.
The above points alone: =
A decent player, using a reliable cue, with very little expectation of playing well or poorly......can lead to a decent performance.
There's no surprise in that.

you might have been playing badly, but it won't be purely because your cue was a jointed one and that's a fact.
It might be because the jointed cue you've been using is a poor one, which doesn't play too well, I don't know.
But ultimately, a great player will be able to play great snooker with any very good, reliable cue that feels comfortable to them, jointed or not.

Oh God, that has reminded me of something.
Years ago in a local pub, a guy I knew, Derek, (decent player) was challenged to a game of 8 ball pool for cash. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the game went ahead and the challenger was getting hammered.
The game was almost at a finish when the big mouthed challenger lifts his cue and whacks old Derek across the head with the butt end.
Not content with that, he then hit him again, same way, same place.
Only by this time Derek had put his hands on his head due to the pain of the first blow, leading to three broken fingers on his right hand and a handsome lump on the head.
Believe it or not, the guy then proceeds to apologise for doing it, asking if old lumpy head Derek was ok. He replied that he was, and that was the end of it...........incredible.
True that.
