Going to order a new cue

I am looking to get a snooker cue (for english 8 ball as well) and as I was about to order from Maximus Cues I read a bad review. Basically the guy was complaining about the shaft and the weight (he didn't get the weight he asked for) so long story short the cue was not worth the money or the time. Now many good cue makers have bad reviews and this review was from last year therefore I don't know how reliable this bloke's opinion is, so I want to know from you fellas.
Master Cue (Thailand) - Pheonix (Thailand) - Maximus Ultimate (Thailand)
Which one do you recommend? I'm only this annoying when it comes to important things and a cue this expensive better be important.

Where are you LB ? Are you near a shop you could go and try out a few cues, they say that's the best way.

Yes I agree, if there is a place where you can try a some cues that's definitely the best method but unfortunately for me I'm in Western Australia where all cues are overpriced and Maximus, MasterCue and Pheonix or even John Parris cannot be found, Australian vendors prefer to sell you a Dufferin cue for 200 AUD or an LP cue for 850 AUD. That's why I must order online and from overseas.

If you are going to get a Thai cue there is niche cues and via facebook Toms cues also you could try Zaks cues in Queensland.

I suggest you go Tom classic cue. Very good value for very little money.

First of all thank you all for your suggestions. I don't really care about the money as much as the quality of the cue itself, I'm not saying I can afford a JP Ultimate but if the cue costs around 600-700 AUD, right for me and lasts a lifetime I'm not bothered. I will look in to all the cue makers you kind fellas have mentioned.

Quite surprised about the bad review on Maximus cues. They generally get positive ones.

My experiences with the Thai cue makers are mostly good.

I'd agree with DeanH on Ton Praram. I used digital calipers and weighing machine on their cues and they got my cue specs spot on. Good communication too.

Another vote for Ton Praram, as said I'm also a bit surprised at the poor review for Maximus. I suppose if your selling a lot of cues you will always have the odd issue and unhappy customer but I wouldn't let one review put you off, how far out was the weight and what was wrong with the shaft?
