    Wright Cues

    Long story short - I managed to reacquire a cue I used to play with 25 years ago but it was in a right state.

    Reg from Wright Cues doesn't seem to get mentioned much here but he has done a fantastic job of bringing it back to life. I wanted a cocobolo butt and he has managed to do this over splicing the old ebony one. The finish he has applied is on par with a Trevor White. Just a thought for people thinking of a new cue - waiting times are not long, prices seem reasonable and he is very good at communication.

    Pics attached. Not one for you arrow lovers but it has a tight side grain and is a hitter.

      I totally agree, folk don't seem to be able to drop the badge thing in their heads and scratch around for better and cheaper solutions. They'd rather cough up 700 big ones for a basic cue than think outside the box. That cue is a looker; gonna turn some heads bai! Apart from resplicing did the work also include re-doing the shaft/ferrule/tip. Can you mention the cost of this work? I ask to see the comparison it would have cost at one of the usual suspects.

            A lot of sentimental value with this cue. First title and PB with it until I sold it around 16 years ago. Was in a right state and about 5" had been hacked off the bottom so needed lengthening.

            Reg charged £35 per splice as I wanted long (22") cocobolo splices and the refinish he has applied to the butt and shaft is as good as a TW. His own brand cues will be excellent VFM if they come with this level of finish.

              Very noice. £140 for all that work sound fine to me, because it's done by hand, very good value and a great job by the looks of it. Where they playing in the world's smallest practice room, was it bought by a dwarf or were they just potty for chopping off 5"!

              FIVE inches!

                Do you play with the side grain up GG? Or just like a nice straight, tight ,side grain?

                  Arrows up but it has what most people would call an ugly messy pattern. I'm not fussed about 'good looking' shafts. I find the best hitters have a tight side grain and this shaft is also a nicely seasoned 25 years old.

                  It's actually a Hunt & O'Byrne red plate I got from the Elephant and Castle workshop. I sold it, it got butchered for pool use, I found it again and Reg has resurrected it for me.
