yep, he had a JPU before he started using the Acuerate, so it seems he may have gone back to this JPU.
He did seem to have trouble getting used to the Acuerate (I recall seeing him at 2015 Welsh whacking the cue into his chair after missing a sitter).
      cheers

Great marketing from JP. Did same as H&O in the 80's when they gave every pro a free cue and thus the biggest percentage used them.
The list doesn't mean they are the best cues.
In reality, the pros have a choice of cues from JP more often than not they pick from the best. The paying public don't get the same luxury.
I made a cue for Ding, which he said was probably too nice as his cue was very brittle and open. He really rated the cue and subsequently gave it to his old coach in China I believe.
I suppose what I'm saying is that, because a top player uses a brand of cue, that should not Necessarily mean that is the best and right brand for everyone.
        "Don't think, feel"

Spot on. I don't want to encourage the 'I'm looking for the one' cue crew as they are deluded; many cues exist that are suitable for them. Whether their arm is worthy of holding that cue is moot. But yeah, some players do need to have a particular feel in the cue and Ding is very sensitive to a lot of things and he's also the finest break-builder out there, superb in the balls, Ronnie-esque and that's why he needed his Stamford back I reckon. The feel of that shaft is gonna be hard to replicate without making a hundred cues. That cue has given him his confidence back. Personally, I can't get on with Parris. The 1-pieces are sufferable but the 2-pieces are junk for me, same as a Trev, horrible joints. But that's just me (so don't have a go mods!); there are plenty who think these cues (and joints) are the dogs danglies and swear by em. So your words ^are wise. The best bet, as lots of folk say is to go to a snooker store, like GBL and try some cues out. You maximise your chance of finding the 'one'. :biggrin-new:

            all true
as I said earlier JP did a great campaign back in the day, got his name into peoples minds and now this reflects in the numbers on the list. But that is all they are, numbers. As with most things snooker/cue related, it is all personal preference/feel and one person's "the one" cue will be someone else's "dog".

The cue you make for Ding I am sure was a perfect cue - too perfect?
as you have probably seen, Stamford recently "rebuilt" his old cue and probably just in time before any major catastrophe occurs
(they have since done the same to Selby's as well)

10 out of 16 Parris's, obviously leading the top 16 then.

Well, apparently, just 2% of the boards JP inspects actually make it to a shaft. So is the choice of a JPU/etc not just down to mkg/freebies but also down to the best kiln ash money can find? I suspect that a JP shaft is different in feel to a lot of imported shafts being used by other cue makers. The ash in the far east will vary to the boards in yards in England. Ash mainly comes from N. America but different suppliers delivering timber from different forests at different grades maybe?

Graeme Dott is getting several cues made in a bid to get one more or less the same as the one he used in 2006.

Similar to mine Neil I passed on rough specs from memory he has no idea about weights or sizes just if it feels right. Four different makers having a go.

We know where it is , why doesn't he get in contact with him and come to some agreement ?

I think coming to some agreement might be the sticking point Neil.
