Cue Shortened by 2"

it will change the cue completely by shifting the balance point and stiffening the resonance. it could workout well if thats what your looking for

If I know you Foss, it won't be a cheap cue your doing this to. Can't you sell, and find a shorter one ?

Bigger tip, thicker shaft, shift the balance point towards the butt end a tad.
Why don't you just hold it two inches further up the butt ?

Just holding it further up the cue makes the balance of the cue all wrong, I would have a play with cheap rack cues first. you'll know whats right when you pick it up.
Then modify your cue, yes it will play different but make sure it's done properly to not affect balance.

Tried that doesn't work for me, cue feels all wrong compared to when I hold it correctly.
