That's something you'd have to ask Mike, I haven't a clue. Irrespective of how much if any commission Mike gets, OP used the his site so should order whatever cue he decides on through the site.

If you haven't got a clue why did you state 'small commission' then?

Not having a go personally. What if it was 10-20%, would that be acceptable? Is that small? Why shouldn't the OP shop around? It's considered ok to do shopping comparisons on food and cars so why shouldn't folk do the same on cues from commercials? Lot's of folk have a look in John Lewis, then nip off to Amazon for an order. Why should the business cue makers charging an arm and leg be treated any different?

I guessed at 'small' commission because as I understand it the prices are the same on his site as they are on Mastercrafts site. Mikes exposure to the custom cue market is greater than MC so makes good marketing sense for them to pay Mike whatever commission to pick up a sale they necessary might not of got. Stating the obvious but ADR would no doubt be getting the MC he sells on EBay at 'trade' so no difference.

My point if there is no difference in price then why should the OP not place the order through Mikes site after using it? Would you be happy as a cue maker putting all the time and effort into developing a site, where you can compare certain cue makers prices etc....rather than visiting numerous others then just buggering off and ordering direct ?

Apologies as to the misunderstanding. Yes, as long as the comms are as good via a 3rd party, no problem with ordering via MW if the final price is identical. Then, MC are paying MW an advertising/agency fee which does seem fair.

But now we've let the genie out the bottle, I'd still go direct to MC but I'd be asking for a wee discount :biggrin-new:

I personally like to deal direct and I've been stung by complications with purchasing via 3rd party contracts. We've all had 'it's the delivery company you need to speak to' from the seller and the 'it's the selling company you need to speak to' in response from the delivery company. So I don't need a 3rd party seller layer as well.

            1. You won't get a discount from Master Craft( cheap enough already)
            2. Comms are much better with Mike.
            3. I've purchased cues from both parties, nothing against MC fantastic vfm but would much rather deal with MW.

At the end of the day it's up to the OP what they do, I'm sure Mikes not gonna lose sleep over it

@lone wolf. If you want a KD cue amongst the best, message J6 or if you want a badge and know name, get in contact with Ton Praram. £300 will buy you a cue no cue maker can beat for quality. I thought G made a cue how he wanted with his chosen timbers to but to your specs. I wouldn't accept that personally. Maybe it's changed now?
Thanks for your input BigSplash. I will start liaising with the above cue makers.... If I'm not satisfied with what their saying then there is no pressure to purchase.

Mikes Comms are like...You want what design??? No f....in chance mate, you dont like then you can f... off !!!!

Lol your right though, my apologies, Mike should take a cut for bringing in the work for whichever cue maker makes it. Hes spent the money on the site and so is entitled to make business from it.

Yep Mikes customer services skills are legendary :-D if you want a lovely made cue then he's your man. If you want 6.5 chevrons and the cue made of angel dust ash then you'll get a firm go f@&k yourself and go somewhere else!

Mikes way is a little different, lol. Never heard any complaints about his workmanship, I've had a few cues from him and always spot on. Always gonna be alternatives out there, all down to personal preferences in the long run.

MW's cues are very good even if it's not my choice of timber. I just see better value in other cue makers. Like you say, it's personal pref and if folk trust one cue maker, regardless of price, it's no surprise for them to return; minimal risk.

How about a Maximus Ultimate for 350 instead? Great Cues, custom made and numbered.

Thank you again guys! This has been enlightening...
Re; Maximus - By going to MW I got a nice surprise with using his VCM - by which offered the above thread dilemma. Therefore I've already kind of gone down a road of choice, that Maximus won't be a part of. I know too little about their products a part from word of mouth, which for myself (when choosing a cue) does not tick all the boxes.

Otherwise I could spend an entire lifetime deciding on which internet based cue maker to go for...
