  • about Burroughes & Watts Cue

    Dear mates,
Anyone of you using or have tried a Burroughes & Watts Cue? How does this brand feel? Thinking of making an enquiry of customised order of it, appreciations for any suggestion!

the modern company using this name - is not often discussed on TSF - well the cues aren't but the company is.
Not many have had a cue from them (or owned up to having one ) I am sure they are fully acceptable as cues go
Many will say to get an older cue from the original Burroughes & Watts company, they being better/nicer cues (some beauties here http://www.thecuecollector.com/Cues.html )

let us know what you decide to do

I Have one. Just a plain ebony and ash one piece. Nothing special.

edit.. Just had a look at their prices and I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, no matter how good they are nowadays, for example as anybody charging £40 for a telescopic extension worth £15 tops is in my book a cowboy.
Mine was 2nd hand 8 yrs ago and in that time I've only played perhaps 6 frames with it as it's a bit of a shortie about 55"

I can understand why you are tempted, this is the oldest name in snooker, not far off 200yrs. Hand made in England using traditional methods, rather than machines in Thailand/England. I guess the prices reflect this though the extensions do seem a bit pricey given they don't have to make them and at most, fit a screw into an extension bought into the factory. I'll be interested to read your review of the cue if you buy one. Anyone own a modern one?

Thank you all to reply! I have a JP ash & a Jason Owen maple currently, firstly heard B&W from a interview to D. Dale. Trust this is a great cue maker. have been thinking about to ask Trevor White to make a cue, but received no reply! definitaly will update if I order one.

I am sure that Dominic Dale would be discussing the original company and not the firm that now use the name.
DD had a replica B&W Eureka cue made a few years back, by Tony Glover.

Well, have no idea of what sort of cues D. Dale has. Rethink about this. Thank you!

well that is an interesting point, it has been said that Dominic Dale has had a cue from nearly every cue maker out there (UK, Far East, etc) and many many old cues as well. Not necessarily played matches with them but he had an extensive collection at one point, cues, memorabilia, etc.

                          good luck with your search

DD will be on Twitter , I'm guessing,if you do that kind of thing, it shouldn't be overly hard to get in touch with him, he seems very knowledgable and a nice guy who wouldn't mind ten minutes out his day to discuss cues with you.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!
