So it's basically a light snooker cue then? I could just break with my regular snooker cue, it's 17oz and 10mm and 18.5 BP (that's the most forward snooker cue I've come across). Though I wouldn't mind using my Phoenix for something as it's gathering dust. It's really powerful on a snooker table, spin is insane. I wonder what tip Marting put on it though?

I've never been convinced by the cue speed argument. Both my E8B and 9 ball break cues are heavy beasts, and scatter the balls lovely. I've owned industry standard cues - BK2 &3, Mezz PB2 included - but both my free, ugly mongrels are better for me. There's no magic bullet, no magic cue: technique is all.

That said, if and when i get round to manufacturing an exact replica of my E8B break cue, I'll make a fortune.

Can't remember make of tip but it's meant to be rock hard. Made for breaking cues I think. Only chatted for a bit about them as was asking him about snooker cues.

They guys chalk that tip but it could be phenolic or leather. Is there any chance you could find out please bud?

@Dave Walton, any ideas bud, you're a mine of info.

Toam orange tip, made mainly for break cues and jump cues according to post on Tyrone Facebook page and cues are lighter, range from 12-14oz so that would be natural weight.

Isn't that incredible. So Tyrone has found that maximum force is less weight and more speed through the ball, combined with a very hard tip that doesn't squish on impact.

25 euros a pop, and we thought Kamui were expensive!

Still tempted to put a hard lammy tip on me Phoenix as an alternative. Wonder if O'min do a really hard tip?

From the feedback he's had and the few videos I've seen he's hit on a good idea. Was using a different tip and then changed to the Toam. I have couple spare shaft blanks and might try make one for the pool team where I play snooker. They need all the help they can get lol.

The O'min red tip is pretty hard from what I remember. It played ok for short time for snooker but just gave no feel once it went rock hard so tried something else.

                  haha!

These look interesting, cotton phenolic. He makes em to size (no sanding hopefully) and a decent price as well. I could mount one on the Phoenix 'V2' and launch the balls through the pub window. lol

I've seen that done before, pub just down from the Wolves ground. Bloke broke and sent cue ball smashing through the window lol.

Also Tyrone uses 10mm stainless steal ferrule.

Yeah, bigger tip means more centering and no unwanted side. These guys middle it well.

What do you think about stainless ferrules bud? It's a pretty stiff metal, a little less dense than brass. Does it throw less and sound crisper? Anyone? I think Terry D. went through this years ago but I've forgotten his conclusions.

Seen that happen many times - nothing special cue, nothing special tip. Always down to the player trying too hard

Used to be in a pool team and one team mate was renowned for sending the cue ball off the table that we all used to cover our pints

@Markz. I may buy one of the ebay jobbies and do a review. Could be interesting.
